QUESTIONS ABOUT CAMPING IN FRANCE WITH SIBLU
We get sent lots of questions about camping in France. Here are answers to some of the most popular.
Q: Does Siblu have any parks with tent or touring caravan pitches?
A: Yes, four of our campsites have pitches for tents and touring caravans. They are Domaine de Litteau in Normandy, Le Conguel in Brittany, and Les Viviers and Les Dune du Contis in the south west.
Q: Is there much difference between different Siblu campsites?
A: When you book with Siblu, you are guaranteed to get an outstanding array of facilities on site, life guarded pools, great quality entertainment teams and free kids’ clubs, regardless of where you stay. However, parks can differ in size and atmosphere, with some like Domaine de Kerlann, Le Bois Masson, Les Charmettes and La Carabasse large and lively, but others including Domaine de Litteau, La Pignade and Le Montourey much quieter, more rustic and very relaxed. Whatever you’re looking for, there is a Siblu campsite that you will love.
Q: Is it best to drive or fly to France?
A: There are lots of different variables that will decide whether it’s best for you to drive or fly to France. Most customers find that a car is helpful to explore the region and visit local sites and shops, so even if you fly we would recommend hiring a car. One tip is not to underestimate the drive time to your destination. Taking a ferry to Calais, Caen or one of the other north coast ports will leave you with a five or six hour journey to the popular Vendee and Charente Maritime regions on the west coast, and a full day of driving to the south coast.
Q: Which Siblu campsites are closest to ferry ports?
A: Domaine de Litteau is just 45 minutes from the ferry port at Caen, making it a popular choice for people travelling on the Brittany Ferries route from Portsmouth.
Caen is also the closest ferry port to Domaine de Dugny in the Loire Valley, with a journey time of just over three hours.
For Domaine de Kerlann in Brittany, the port at Roscoff is less than two hours away, with travel from St Malo under three hours, and from Caen less than four hours.
Q: Which Siblu campsites are near to beaches?
A: Almost all of the Siblu campsites are within a short drive of great beaches, with the exception of Domaine de Dugny in the Loire Valley, and Rives de Condrieu in the Rhone Alpes.
Those that are in walking distance to a sandy beach are Le Conguel, Pierres Couchees, La Carabasse, Les Sables du Midi and Le Mar Estang. Bonne Anse Plage and La Pignade are easily reached by bike, and La Reserve and Les Viviers both has lakeside beaches.
Q: Do all Siblu campsites have pools?
A: Yes, every Siblu site has a pool complex, which is lifeguarded for your peace of mind. The types of pools differ depending on which site you visit. For example, most parks in the north and on the west coast have heated outdoor pools, plus pools that are indoor or have a retractable roof that can be closed when the weather demands. On the south coast, where the weather is warmest, sites are less likely to have covered pools.
Q; Do Siblu kids clubs run all day long?
A: No, the clubs run two times most days, with hours clearly advertised on site. There are different clubs for tots, children and teens, all led by our brilliant entertainment team.
Q: What should we bring to make our camping trip extra great?
A: All our holiday homes are fully equipped, so you should have everything you need for a stress-free holiday. You can add linen and towel packs to reduce your packing, and we recommend you bring dishcloths, washing up liquid, bin bags and extra toilet rolls (or you can buy these locally to save space).
